The recent and ongoing events in Parliament are hardly surprising, unprecedented, or unjustified. I supose I could rattle off the usual litany of correctives such as 'we elect MPs, not governments---the GG asks someone to form a government', 'this isn't the first time a government has gone down in a vote of non-confidence where a GG has asked someone else to form a government' or perhaps even that the so-called coalition represents almost twice as many Canadians as the current government and as such more democratic in at least one way of looking at it.
But, of course, these fall on deaf and partisan ears. Canadians, both voters and those who serve in government, simply because they either do not know how Parliamentary Democracy works or simply don't care.
For those who would prefer to understand how Canadian Parliamentaty Democracy works, I recommend the standard work on the subject:
How Canadians Govern Themselves, 6th Edition.
