My Nerves; you are on them

So, ManCrunch.com (a dumb name in my view, but nevertheless) wanted to air a commercial during the SuperBowl. They were rejected.

"After reviewing the ad, which is entirely commercial in nature, our standards and practices department decided not to accept this particular spot," said CBS spokeswoman Shannon Jacobs (Cnn.com).

The commercial is silly, but is it offensive? After all, it is really just two guys kissing... and you don't actually see the kiss. I have seen perfume advertisements that were more explicit.

I saw a comment about this:

it's perfectly OK to air ads for Viagra and similar drugs. I'm sure no kids would ask, "mommy, what's an erection lasting longer than 4 hours?"


But apparently a gay dating website WOULD be too uncomfortable or complicated to explain to a child.

Indeed. There seems that erect penises to be used for the purpose of penetrating a woman is a perfectly acceptable object of attention for a commercial, meeting community standards, yet two men (ostensibly) kissing will somehow make the city fathers prance through the streets, the city mothers faint dead away, and all their children gay.
