I find it odd to be posting about consolidating sites, services, and such when I have been so incredibly slack in posting to this blog these past 2 years. However, I have been spending money on services I do not use, so a few rationalisations are going to have to be done.
Basically, I am going to get rid of the hosting plan on which this site runs. Spookyhill will, of course, live on, in both a blog and email hub for my family. Blacksun has been a great hosting service and I recommend it to anyone. But I have been using MobileMac for a while to synchronise my desktop and laptop (and now my iPhone) to great effect. However, it seems quite a waste of meny to have MobileMe and a separate hosting service.
I would love to be able to use a simple linux-based linux service for all of my .Mac services, but I can't find any easy way to do so. As such, I am going to be moving all of my personal internet activities to my .Mac facilities while I continue to investigate ways of implementing all of this generically. You should see a substantial change in the site in just a few days.
I am pretty sure that Apple has no plan to implement php on .Mac anytime soon, but if they do, I'll be one of the first to start using Wordpress again and leave all of my services there.
Only time will tell it seems.
